Our Visit To Meet Jane Cooper & Freya!

On Saturday 31st January, we were welcomed by the inspirational Jane Cooper. Jane is a farmer, an author and is setting up a mobile abattoir.

We got to meet the wonderful Orkney Boreray flock and hear about the history of this heritage breed. 

We also met the beautiful Freya, Jane’s new puppy. Julie was smitten with the pup. 

Jane explained about the co-operative she has set up and the importance of the mobile abattoir on an island. 

Jane Cooper – “WiAS is hugely important for women, especially new entrants. It’s nice to realise you are part of a national network and hear what’s happening in the other parts of the country.”

“Two other women have ran small abattoirs in rural Scotland and I’m looking forward to being the third”
